RepVault is a fantastic, structured tool designed for narrative, monitoring and reporting. It consists of the Profile page, the Comparison page and the Trends page.
There are a few essential parts of RepVault that will help you start to develop your usage of the software.
Companies and Taxonomies
When filtering in RepVault, the two filters that you need to use are Companies and Taxonomies. Companies choose either a company, stakeholder, or portfolio for you to filter each page in RepVault.
A company is one of the thousands of companies we have in RepVault. Stakeholders are similar, where you can choose from thousands of stakeholders already in RepVault. For both of these, if any company or stakeholder is missing, then you can request it to be added by our expert team.
Portfolios is a collection of either companies or stakeholders that you can customize and create within the Settings app. This is great to compare your company to those in a similar industry to you on the Comparison page, or to look at a group of companies that you may be monitoring. We recommend a maximum of 20 companies or stakeholders within a Portfolio.
Taxonomies are a group of Drivers. These Drivers are full of Topics with specific keywords driving them. We have thousands of topics created to suit any industry – with the option to ask for more topics to be added by our expert team.
A Driver is the cluster of Topics you choose, for example a Climate Driver may contain climate change, climate resilience, just transition, renewable energy and many more.
Within the Settings app you can create your own Taxonomies, which means you can customize these to suit your business. If there were specific areas you wanted to get information on, this is possible for you.
Impact and Sentiment
Unlike other algorithms that rely on volume, RepVault uses Impact to identify the most prominent conversations that shape your organisations reputation. This consists of:
Source Credibility + Audience Reach + Relevance = Impact
Each article has an Impact score between 0-1. An article from a highly credible source, which has reached a large audience and with several matches to the company and topic within the article will score a 1. This ensures that the data you are getting is from the most prominent sources available online, giving you confidence with the information provided. The total number that you will see is all the articles’ scores added together, giving you the total contents Impact score.
Sentiment is based on a widely used industry standard NLP (natural language processing), that has been trained to predict the correct results for large data sets. We use healthy (positive), unhealthy (negative), and neutral as terms to classify the data. Unknown sentiment indicates that the system is unable to classify an article (primarily non-English content). There is a margin of accuracy, due to NLP not understanding key linguistic features such as sarcasm, which may often be used within Social Media posts.
Sentiment is important as it allows you to understand how articles or social media posts about your company are being perceived. For example, if you have had some news appear in the media about your company, you can view the sentiment of this online and understand whether it is positive or negative. Many online media posts can come across as neutral, due to the language used in the articles whereas there are a lot more emotive words used in social media.
Filters and Drilldown
